The Definition of Welshing

So my father-in-law informed me last night that we needed to change the name of our blog right away. Much to my chagrin, he shared that Welshing is a verb with derogatory meaning. Webster's Dictionary defines the verb to welsh or welshing as follows:

welsh intransitive verb \ˈwelsh, ˈwelch\

1 sometimes offensive : to avoid payment —used with on
2 sometimes offensive : to break one's word : renege
welsh·er noun, sometimes offensive

BUT, we So-Cal Welshes have decided to define it differently!!! To Welsh or to be Welshing is for Andre and I to fully embrace our marriage to one another, to become a family unit of two (plus our fish), and to experience all of life's adventures, good and bad, together as partners.

I am love being a Welsh but I'm still a Greene too. My middle name is legally Greene and I will always be partly a Greene because I was born into my wonderful family. I enjoyed Greeneing around for 30 years but it's onto new adventures now as a proud Welsh!

I am TT

As I anticipate the arrival of my 2nd niece any day now, I have spent a lot of time thinking about how I felt when Quinn was born (she's my first niece who will be three on September 7th). She changed my familiy's lives completely and when I say completely I mean completely for the better. She has brought nothing but joy, laughter, playfulness, and love into our lives that I have a hard time imagining how there will be room for more of it when my new niece arrives in a day or two. And for that matter, how there will be room for even more love when Andre and I have our own kids. But it's overwhelmingly wonderful to think about it. Because I know I will soon be gushing about my new niece (who I cannot wait to call by name as soon as I find out what it is) I want to take a moment to share some photos of my one and only neice (for now) Quinn Olivia Willis who will always hold a special place in my heart, who has continued to amaze me with her intelligence, joy for life (especially animals and Minnie Mouse, and sweetness, and who has made me the proudest auntie and called me by name...TT!

I LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH QUINN!

One Year a Welsh!

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG! It seems fitting that we begin our Adventures in Welshing blog on the eve of our one year anniversary. I'm not sure there would have been time to update a blog until now. Let me just say that this first year of marriage has been interesting to say the least. In the past 12 months we have moved three times, I graduated from Berkeley Extension, was jobless for 2 months, started and new career which finally became full time in May, Andre has continued to work from home as a freelance editor and has completed a fantastic web series on the side, and has a few pilot projects in the works.  Let's just say we are very much looking forward to year two!

I am happy to say that I have been a Welsh for almost one year...well not if you count when I finally got around to changing my driver's license which was only last month! But I have certainly felt like a Welsh for a year, in fact I have felt like a Welsh for far longer than that. But now, IT'S OFFICIAL!

As Andre and I approach our one year anniversary in 3 days, I can't help but reminisce about our wedding and honeymoon. Not to sound cliche but it was truly a magical couple of weeks that I will forever be grateful for. Our overall goal for the wedding was to be surrounded by family and friends and I'd say we accomplished that. Below are some of our favorite photos and memories from our wedding weekend and honeymoon.
